On Tuesday, July 28, the Indian support staff members Ryan ten Doeschate and T Dilip ended their involvement with the team. While Ryan was the assistant coach, Dilip was the fielding coach for the Men In Blue.
While speaking exclusively to The Indian Express, the BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has revealed that the contracts of the duo haven’t been renewed and the board is looking to name their replacements ahead of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka next month.
“Ryan and Dilip’s contracts have ended and we are not extending them. Dilip was already on a one-year extension, which ended on June 8, and Ryan’s ended on June 10. In another two-three days, we will name their replacements,” Saikia told The Indian Express.
Interestingly, Ryan is likely to join the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand, the bowling coach Morne Morkel has been given an extension with the ICC World Cup 2027 lined up next year in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Dilip’s future as the fielding coach had always been in a major doubt as India’s fielding continued to remain a big worry across three formats of the game. While Dilip was relived from his duties after the T20 WC 2024, the BCCI took a U-turn at the last moment to include him in Gambhir’s support staff.
BCCI is expected to bring in the former Assam cricketer Subhadeep Ghosh as the new fielding coach. Ghosh has been part of the support staff, working with India A, Under-19 as well as the India women’s sides.
Currently, India’s support staff includes Sitanshu Kotak, Morne Morkel, Sairaj Bahutle as the spin-bowling coach and Hari Prasad Mohan as the analyst.
