In its official statement, the BCCI confirmed that Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah’s availability will be subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI CoE, while Washington Sundar was not available for selection for the first Test.
Moreover, the statement confirmed that ahead of the series, the Indian team will play a four-day practice match in Colombo, starting on Friday, August 7. While Shubman Gill leads the squad, KL Rahul has been named his deputy.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal are part of the batting line-up. The veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s return to the national team since January 2026 is the talking point.
